Storyline:

The film spanning 4-odd hours covers in adequate details the happenings at the Kargil sector near the LOC in 1999 when the pakistani infiltrators had crossed the LOC and had entered deep into the Indian territory. They made use of the very same bunkers that belonged to the Indian Army on all the vantage points such as Tiger Hill, Point 4875, Jabbar Heights, Tololing, etc., thus endangering the Srinagar-Leh National Highway - 1

The actual war had seen a lot of action and sacrifice from the Artillery and the Infantry (1/11 Gorkha Rifles, 18 Granadiers, 17 Jat, 2 Rajputana Rifles, and other decorated units of the infantry). The movie covers in detail (in fact, too much of detail) the bravery of the Infantry, and thus giving a raw deal to the Artillery, whose Bofors

155mm Howitzers did the magic in attacking the bunkers on the peaks. THe Indian Air Force had a lot to do in the actual war, but has not been highlighted at all in the movie.

The movie Begins with missing men from the 16 Granadiers, a message from the GOC kargil to the troops in the valley to accumulate in the Kargil sector to drive the bloody Pakistanis. Parting scenes of the war-stars with their wifes/girl-friends (as applicable) along with songs (actually the songs are atleast 20-30 minutes each) are shown as the troops move towards Kargil.

Then, the action begins, there is victory all along (u see we are "Mera Bharat Mahan" we have to win always against Pakistan be it war or Cricket, we are the best) amidst a lot of difficulty, casualities peak by peak, Indian troops drive the infiltrators away. The climax of the action is On Tiger Hill that was taken by the 18 Granadiers. Due to the large number of stars, it is difficult to detail the movie as a story.

Comment:

If one is looking for a formula story in this movie, then one can be sure that it is absent. LOC is a story of Pure sacrifice, patriotism, courage and lots and lots of bullets and Blood. The theatre yesterdat was full of whistles and cheers when the Film shows Indians winning each peak. Sure, we make a good movie audience and support the starts as in the same case where we cheer the Indian Cricket team in a match against Pakistan. Watch the movie for the charaterisation of the real-life war heroes (4 PVC honoured heroes) who have sacrificed their lives so that we could see this day. The movie has made a brilliant potrayal of the Army who have battled all odds in rough weather conditions

Warning: You may fall asleep during some of the long drawn songs.
