Movie Review: The Ring Two (E)

Plot Outline:

Six months after the experience with the cursed videotape that kills people within a week of watching it, Rachel Keller (Naomi Watts) and her son Aidan (David Dorfman) move to the small town to start afresh. However, the soul of Samara is back with a bigger and scarier challenge for Rachel and Aidan who battle for their lives yet again.

Comment:

Hideo Nakata, who made his American Debut with the "The Ring" based on Japanese “Ringu” has proved his scare value yet again. The Japanese scary flicks have provided inspiration for many other horror/thrillers across the world and this is no exception. Performances of Naomi Watts and David Dorfman carry you well through the movie. I think Dorfman was a notch better than the once-Oscar-nominated Watts. SFX are done seamlessly.

Although the Screenplay is well written and is unpredictable, it could have been bettered upon to match the levels of the first Ring. Nevertheless, it’s quite usual that sequels don’t usually match up to the original. But this shouldn’t deter you from watching the movie. The best executed scene is the bathtub one seen in the trailer. The unpredictability of the sequences can give real creeps!

Rating: 3/5 – Definitely Scary & Unpredictable. Your phone may ring as soon as you watch it... ;)
